Drive-thru ‘Hero Luncheon’ Honors Thomasville’s Veteran, Police, Firefighter, EMT, and Medical Heroes

Residents and staff of Legacy Village at Plantation Manor served more than 250 sack lunches to local heroes, who simply had to drive up in their vehicle and be served.

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (August 14, 2015) – Legacy Village at Plantation Manor honored local heroes on August 6, with the first ever drive-thru “Hero Luncheon.”

Veterans, police officers, firefighters, EMTs, doctors and other service members were among those honored at the Thomasville, Ga. assisted living and Alzheimer’s facility, where expressions of gratitude were served with each free sack lunch.

Those being honored simply had to drive-up in their vehicle to receive a lunch and a big thank-you from those handing out the stuffed sacks.

Residents and staff of Legacy Village at Plantation Manor distributed more than 250 sack lunches during a 1.5-hour period. Residents greeted the heroes as they arrived and spent time talking with them and getting to know them personally.

“This was a great opportunity to serve our local Thomasville heroes and show them our appreciation for all that they do for us,” says Christy Cooke, executive director of Legacy Village at Plantation Manor. “We have quite a few veterans and emergency personnel in Thomasville, and we are excited anytime we have a chance to give back to these men and women. We hope to do this again.”
