THOMASVILLE, Ga. (Sept. 23, 2019) - Legacy Village at Plantation Manor celebrates resident Janet McLendon, 100, on National Centenarian’s Day 2019.
National Centenarian’s Day is observed annually on September 22 to recognize and honor those who are 100 years of age or older. The day was originally proclaimed as an opportunity to listen to their life stories and learn from their wisdom.
McLendon, born July 13, 1919, is originally from Metcalf, Ga. She joined Legacy Village at Plantation Manor community in May 2018.
McLendon, always ready to share a smile and good humor, says she doesn’t have any secrets for keeping a young outlook on life.
McLendon considers family among those who influenced her the most in her life. The best advice she can offer the younger generations is for them to always remember their families.
Even with a long life to look back upon, McLendon says the present is the best time to live and that 100 years is worth celebrating.
“Mrs. McLendon easily spreads her laughter and joy, and Legacy Village is a better community for having her with us. It is our privilege to honor her this Centenarian’s Day,” says Deidre Yates, executive director of Legacy Village at Plantation Manor.
